After watching the game against salford, i am worried about our kicking game.The kicks to touch are atrocious, only gaining 10 metres at most.If we could get 40 yards we could take so much pressure off ourselves.My mum could kick furthur than webster.

It is also a concern who will kick the goals, and in tight games could be vital. Hopefully it will improve, as players must realise that 40 yards could mean 3 tackles of work.

Same for few seasons yet we have Webster kicking 10m however whenever Thacks takes them gets at least 20+ :/

Same when had Myler & Jules! Oh and one is playing top class Union now!

To be honest i feel like me been a kicking coach and show webster how to do it.I used to be a good kicker,and it frustrates me to see no technique in the kicks.A good follow through and long leg follow through helps.

Am sure Tommy Martyn can do a job on them

I just can't believe none of them can kick more than 20metres, they're proffesionals. i'm sure some must have a boot on them, gannons frustration kick after the knock on got us atleast 40 yards, and landed in the ingoal, maybe he should get the job?

Somebody might have forgot to pump the balls up?

It's a confidence thing, no one wants to look like a fool by not finding touch, so we get conservative kicks.

Think is you'd expect conservative to be at least 20m! When you look at the likes of Long yes they may miss 4/5 a season but the fact most others get around 40m i'd say it's worth it as they really make a diiference from clearing your lines to attacking posistions whereas we don't seem to up the anti when penalties conceded by other sides, in effect making them less costly!

To be honest I don't think that Webster and Thackeray are great kickers in general. They're good in other ways but tactical kicking isn't one of them. Obviously the club have identified that hence getting some help in with kicking.

I think this has been a problem for a while and it's one of the things that really does my head in...
We get a penalty in our own half and struggle to benefit from it..
other teams really seem to be able to relieve the pressure or put the pressure on us with some good ranging kicks. Surely it's not that hard to kick a ball 20 - 30 yards (hopefully the latter).
I remember Bobby Goulding tonking the ball a good 50 - 60 yards at Wilderspool which led to a try in the next set.

The other really irritating thing that we seem to do to an alarming rate is not kick whatsoever and just take the tap!!! ggaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!

I can see the logic in it sometimes. It can be better to get a couple of drives in and built an attack, it's sometimes difficult to get an attack going if the defence are on their own line. Many times I've seen teams aimlessly throwing the ball around on the opposition line expecting gaps to just appear because they're quite close to the line.

I know it wasn't a great distance that he was getting but I seem to recall him kicking further last season.

I think there is something in what asterix says. I think Webster was making sure he got touch as we were starved of possession and wanted to ensure we got ball in hand time.
