Quote luke ShipleyRed="luke ShipleyRed"According to league express. Rovers specifically asked the rfl that they did not play Hull.
Partly because of the growing dissatisfaction of the over saturation of the Derby. Which is being voiced byou both sets of fans. But the RFL turned it down.'"
Why wouldn't they, I suppose? MW makes the RFL a load of money.
It's a shame really, as MW or "On the Road" games, if done correctly could be great for the game. But to do that, the RFL need to invest in local marketing & development officers, ensuring that the event is attended by as many locals as possible, and some sort of lasting legacy is left behind at grassroots level.
But, Magic Weekend's sole purpose now is to make money for the RFL, nothing more. They've literally created an extra round of fixtures to fill their pockets.
Regards to the Derby, I fully agree with Rovers' view on it.
