I have already posted on the Leeds forum about this guy.
Very sad news indeed.
One of my memories of Holmes was, we had just signed John Ferguson who scored a blistering try at Headingley on the South stand side in the first half IIRC.
Then that bugger John Holmes pops up and scores the winner in the second half !
He wasn't that fast, but like all true greats, seemed to have all the time in the World.
I hear there will be a minutes silence at Headingley on Friday. A good servant for Leeds,Great Britain, and the game in general.
Anybody who played 625 games for a single club over 3 decades is a legend. Never saw him play but my dad said he was a good 'un. Played Stand Off for Britain in '72. Sad news. Rest in Peace John.
