Some decent players there. The likes of Purtell, Pomeroy, Miller and Utai. Todd Carney too, but there's always a risk with him. Apart from that, the slim pickings comment seems apt.

A heap of players on that list have signed deals for 2012 (and beyond) so they're not off-contract.

Those are the players listed as of August 12th if some have signed since then in the last four weeks so be it.

Its also often the case that if a player is offered a deal in Super League he will negotiate a release so its likely there are others available too

Usually that is for more money and a longer contract than an NRL Club will offer a Veteran or fringe player.
That will probably change with a couple of new Clubs coming into the NRL soon and the massively upgraded TV deal.
SL only ever got reasonable players when they were offered longer contracts at the end of their careers or paid over the odds.
I doubt that will be the case soon, good for the young English talent coming through.

Paul Aiton is a good hooker, Tony Williams would do alright in SL as well.
