I was saddened today to hear that Big Jack Hirst passed away last week. I remember Jack being a big part of the Classy Cas team of the early 60's. Jack was a rock in that Cas team and a really lovely guy, who did a lot in the amateur game on his retirement from the professional ranks, in particular at Oulton Raiders, where he was President.
My deepest sympathy goes to his wife and his two sons Neil and John, his grandchildren and his many friends.
Jack's funeral will be held at Rothwell Church, on Tuesday 30th October at 11am.
RIP Jack, you will be sadly missed.
